From the Alps

Some pieces from my collection: a traditional Bavarian Charivari, and some Bavarian hunting trophies. You can see some even cooler Charivari here (site's in German). Enjoy.

The Charivari is worn by Bavarian men across their waist during celebrations to make noise.

Most are made of scrap silver, and include hunting trophies, coins, jewels, and crystals. Mine includes Roe deer antler, a Roe deer hoof, coins, and the jaws of a badger.

Some various hunting trophies: knives with deer foot handles, and Chamois horns from 1906.

Wintry Weekend

It's been snowing in Ann Arbor non-stop since early Saturday morning. Pretzel, who hadn't been in deep snow yet, seems to love it. Unfortunately, she was too fast playing in the snow to get a good shot of her. I'll have to try again with a telephoto lens. Enjoy.

Fever

I've been on the couch with a fever for the past few days. I finally felt better today, and couldn't resist taking some shots of Chrissy working on a painting. You can view more pictures of Chrissy painting here. Enjoy.

I was going through some pics the other day and I thought I'd re-post some old favorites. Enjoy.

ICA Maximar 207

My grandparents also gave me my Great Grandpa's beautiful ICA Maximar 207 bellows camera. Based on the model, this camera was built in Dresden sometime between 1914 and 1926. ICA (Internationale Camera Actiengesellschaft) eventually merged with three other companies to become the more well-known Zeiss Ikon. I had to do some extensive cleaning on it, re-sewing the leather case and oiling everything. I would love to some day get some film and take some pictures with it. Enjoy.
